Seven Thursday nights of learning to think on your feet, listen hard, and trust that what's already in your head is enough. No experience needed. No script. Nobody performs alone.
What This Class Actually Is
This isn't a performance class. It isn't a comedy writing class. And you don't need to be funny to take it.
It's seven weeks of learning to be present, respond in the moment, and build something out of nothing with another person. You'll play games, do scenes with partners, and develop a skill that carries into meetings, interviews, conversations, and everyday life.
You'll be laughing within the first fifteen minutes. Most people are.
One Room, Mixed Levels
This class isn't split by skill level. You'll be in a room with total beginners and people who've been doing this for a while — learning side by side, playing scenes together.
I teach fluidly. The core skills show up in every session, and we revisit what the group needs. If you're new, you'll never be left behind. If you've done this before, you'll be challenged.
That's the point. Improv is an ensemble art. You learn it best by playing with people at every stage.

What You'll Walk Away With
Improv is the #1 soft skill employers look for — whether or not they know to call it that. Here's what you'll actually build:
- Active Listening — hearing what people mean, not just what they say
- Quick Thinking — responding in the moment instead of freezing
- Communication — speaking with clarity and confidence
- Empathy — understanding where someone else is coming from
- Idea Generation — brainstorming and building on other people's thoughts
- Memory — staying present enough to actually remember what happened
- Humor — finding the funny without forcing it
And the one that's hardest to put on a résumé: trust in yourself.
What to Expect Week to Week
The class is fluid, so no two cohorts look exactly the same. But here's the general shape:
- Weeks 1–2: Warm-ups, the fundamentals of "Yes, And," and getting comfortable being on your feet. This is where the nerves go away.
- Weeks 3–4: Scene work in pairs. Listening, agreement, building relationships, finding the game. The training wheels come off a little.
- Weeks 5–6: Group scenes, supporting your scene partners, and putting it all together. This is usually where the room starts to feel like a team.
- Week 7: The showcase. You perform for friends and family, and you're ready for it.
If the group clicks with something specific, we go deeper there. If something needs more reps, we spend more time on it. The room sets the pace.
Who This Is For
- People who've never done improv before
- Anyone who's ever thought "I could never do that"
- Professionals who want to communicate better
- Actors and writers looking to sharpen their instincts
- Anyone who needs two hours a week that aren't about work
No experience needed. Truly none.
About Coach Mike
I'm Coach Mike, founder of Silly Goose Comedy. I perform regularly at Doghouse Theater in Delray Beach, and I started teaching because I was driving over an hour to get to the closest improv class — and I was certain I wasn't the only one up here who wanted this.
I teach beginners for a living now. My whole approach is built on the idea that people have far more in them than they believe. Sometimes they just need a room where it's safe to find out.
FAQ
I've never done anything like this. Is that okay?
Yes. Most people in every class are total beginners. This is designed for them.
Will I have to perform in front of an audience?
Only at the final showcase, and only alongside your classmates — nobody performs alone. The showcase is free and casual, and it's for friends and family who want to come support you. It is not a requirement, but highly encouraged.
What if I have to miss a week?
Life happens. Most students miss one week on average. If you know you'll miss more than one session, reach out before you register and we'll talk it through.
What should I wear or bring?
Comfortable clothes. You'll be on your feet, so skip the heels. Bring water if you want it.
Where is the class held?
Little Prodigy School of Music, 43 SW Monterey Rd, Stuart, FL 34994. Free Parking. (I am unaffiliated with the school. I rent this space from them only for the time of the class. Please do NOT contact the school about this class.)
What's the refund policy?
All sales are final. If something comes up, reach out — you may qualify for a full or partial credit toward another class with a written request.
Still unsure?
Call or text me 561-317-7400. I'm happy to answer anything, even if you don't end up signing up.
The Thing I Actually Want You to Know
Improv is a universal skill. It applies to every part of your life, whether or not you ever step on a stage again.
You'll make connections here. You'll make friends you didn't expect. And you'll learn something that's hard to teach any other way: how to trust yourself and accept that everything happening in your head is enough.
You are enough.
